Zig-Zag Heat Cables
Heat Cables
Ice Dams have been an enemy of homeowners and businesses for generations and, until now, zig-zag heat cable have been the only way to control ice from building up on roofs and in gutters. Although heat cables have worked well to control minor ice formations they have proved unreliable in more extreme winter conditions. At Pitched Rite Seamless Gutters we specialize in a variety of ice dam prevention products that are designed to eliminate ice damage even in the most extreme conditions. We not only carry high quality zig-zag heat cables, but we have a full line of high quality heated gutter guards and roof de-icing heat panels. When it comes to ice dam prevention products, we have the right solution for your home.

What Conditions Do Zig-Zag Heat Work Best?
- In milder snow climates where snowfall never exceeds 20” per year
- When the maximum snowfall per event does not exceed 2”
- When you don't have problem with leaves and debris, but need to protect against Ice in the Gutter
When Not To Use Zig-Zag Heat Cables
- In harsh winter conditions when over 3-12” of snowfall is common
- In mountain or “lake effect” areas of the country
- If have heavy gutter debris, such as leaves and seed pods
Zig Zag cables are great for mild climates, gutters and drains
Zig-Zag heat cables are great when you have very minor snow loads. Unfortunately, heat cables do not provide enough heat to melt large amounts of snow, but are only able to melt small channels in the ice. This can ultimately add to the ice dam problems by allowing ice to build up above and below the cables. If you are experiencing mild ice dam conditions, then heat cables can work well for you. We have a wide variety of heat trace products just right for you home.
Ice Dam Solutions for harsh winter conditions
If you have a more severe ice dam problem then you need the a more aggressive approach. Our Heat Panels are designed to eliminate ice and snow build up on the eave of you home as well as in valleys. If you have an added complication due to debris in your gutter then the heated Gutterglove IceBreaker Gutter Guard is what you will need. In some cases you will need a combination of the two. The Gutterglove IceBreaker is designed to eliminate ice and snow as well as heavy debris from Pine, Oak, Maple, Ash and other similar heavy debris type trees. No matter what you are experiencing we have the right ice and snow melt system for you!
Self-Regulating Heat Cables

Nuheat optimal 6-watt self-regulating roof and gutter de-icing cables are designed for commercial and residential applications to create drain paths needed to prevent ice dams and ice build-up that can cause extensive damage to roof and gutter systems.

In addition to pipe freeze protection applications, Nuheat 13FP self-regulating cables offers alternative wattage options for roof and gutter de-icing applications.

Nuheat plug-in self-regulating heating cables are available in 120V and are installed on roofs and placed inside gutters and downspouts to create and maintain drain paths for water.
Connection Components

The plug-in adaptor kit allows contractors to cut the heating cable (120V only) to length on the jobsite, attach the plug, and insert the plug into a suitable 120V outlet.

Nuheat SpeedConnect Power Connection is designed to make quick and easy power connections and splices without complicated and time-consuming stripping and heat shrink processes

Nuheat SpeedConnect Re-enterable End Seal is designed to make quick and easy end seal connections without complicated and time-consuming stripping and heat shrink processes.

Nuheat's heat shrink power connection kit is used to prepare the heating cable for connection with the power source.

Nuheat's splice / tee splice kit is used to create a splice or a tee-splice for the heating cable.

Nuheat's heat shrink end seal kit is used to terminate the end of the heating cable.
Sensors & Controllers

The CIT-1 sensor is an aerial-mounted sensor that detects falling or blowing precipitation as well as low-temperature conditions. The CIT-1 sensor must be used with an APS control panel.

The GIT-1 sensor is a gutter-mounted sensor that detects moisture as well as low-temperature conditions. The GIT-1 sensor must be used with an APS control panel.

APS control panels are used in conjunction with various sensors and manages/distributes power to the heating cable(s) while ensuring minimum operating costs. APS control panels feature adjustable hold-on timers that ensures complete melting of snow/ice.

The DS-2B aerial-mounted sensor/controller is a 2-in-1 unit which senses snow conditions and distributes power to the heating cable(s) for 120V/240V applications.

The GIT-3A gutter-mounted sensor/controller is a 2-in-1 unit which senses snow conditions and distributes power to the heating cable(s) for 120V or 240V applications.
